batterfor whole moong dosa. In a bowl put 1 cup whole moong (whole green gram) . Add 1/4 cup rice (chawal) . Add 1/4 cup urad dal (split black lentils) . Clean the dal and rice in water. You will have to change the water 4 to 5 times, Your dal and rice is cleaned. Cover and soak in enough water for 4 hours.

Ive done lots of experimenting with sticky rice soak times since there's always a basket ready on our table. From what I have found, the minimum for us to be happy with the quality is 1.5 hours. 2 hours is just fine for soaking, but of course a full soak around 6-8 hours or just overnight while sleeping is what we like best.
